Committee Meeting
6 February, 7:30pm at The Old Vicarage.
Present: - Judith Greig (Chairman); Bob Keene (Vice-Chairman); Jill Goodwin (Treasurer); Eric Coates (Webmaster); Sue Davison; Bob de Barr; Tim Tribe; Dennis Harkness; Louise Parsons; Jenny Haydon
1.Apologies for absence:

2.Minutes of the last Meeting and Résumé
These were approved and the resume can be placed on the web-site in 5 days time.
3.Matters arising from the last Minutes
Thanks were given for the Safari Supper being written up so quickly in the Quantock Messenger.
4.Organisation and strategy
Access to the web site was explained to new members.
Committee members to e-mail their availability for meetings during the week.
Wine will be required from France for next year
Millenium tree- plaque in hand
Organisation of 2009 visit to Theillay in hand.
5.Membership
There was a discussion on corporate membership. Local organisations give us benefits in kind on occasion anyway and no clear justification to solicite corporate memberships.
6.Web
Currently reported to be “in good nick”, new committee members and phone numbers to be added .
There was a volunteer to monitor usability and content of web-site monthly. .
7.Events
27 January 2008 Unscheduled Backgammon Tournament held Rose and Crown- raised £32, very good event, schedule of rules available
June BBQ Liason – Committee member volunteered to liaise on date and organisation (cf. www.stoweytwinning.co.uk/ Our Organisation / Members Page / Action Points Barbeque).
Garden Safari- possibly leave this year as
Picnic on the Mount 12th July Saturday evening social event.
Boules challenge - to be returned to who suggested the event against other Twinning Associations – likely Burnham - for investigation.
Car boot sale-Cannington to be investigated.
·Plea for donations for the Car Boot Sale to go out.
·Transport for boot sale was volunteered.
Boules- 7th Sept? New venue required. Liase with regular organiser.
5 October – Sunday – Quantock Walk

8.Theillay Visit 1-4 May 2008
8.1.Hosting 2008-02-07 No update on hosting
8.2.Programme
·1 May Reception of guests on Thursday
·2 May Friday
·School Programme until lunchtime
·Village Trail
·The issue of lunch is yet to be resolved.
·A meeting to be proposed with French Twinning Committee
·Friday evening.
oCivic reception-to be invited-all members, French guests, Parish council, a family picnic meal.

·Village event, free day for hosts and families
·Challenge – rounders – new ball req.
oNew teacher at school to be approached to help.
·Evening- yet to be finalised.
·Evening Hog roast, music (Shoot the Moon) available on playing field.
·4 May Sunday goodbye.
8.3.Gift
Wassail cup designed by one of our own members- to be given fri evening Will need cider so can be passed around.
8.4.Budget and Grant - Nothing to report.
9.Media/Publicity
2 volunteers said they would re-visit the shop window display
·Discussion followed on how to portray the May visit .

One resident in France offers to write (accepted) a monthly report for Quantock messenger, starting March issue “Vive la difference”

£444 from Safari Supper- a superb effort
£32 from backgammon
Two new signatories agreed, now to be set up.
