Committee Meeting

Thursday 9th October 7:30 pm at 39, Lime Street, Nether Stowey

Present: - Jill Goodwin, Eric Coates, Bob de Barr, Sue Davison,Louise Parsons, Jenny Haydon

 

1.Apologies: Judith Greig, Dennis Harkness, Rhu Griffiths

2.Minutes of the last Meeting and Résumé: Approved

3.Matters arising from the last Minutes:

Funding-The possibility of funding from major outside source will be followed up on both the English and French aspect

Liason re financial spreadsheet will continue

4.Organisation and strategy:

4.1.Vice-chairman has resigned from the committee but happily intends to continue in membership.A thank you card for his work to be sent

3 bottles of wine have been given in appreciation for the thank you cards

5.Membership: Nothing to report

6.Web: Webmaster confirms recent updates

7.Events 2008 (Refer to Quantock Messenger for likely conflict when planning events)

7.1.September boules was cancelled due to the bad weather.

7.2.Quizzes- 2nd Sunday in the month have now begun.

7.3.Quantock walk- a good event despite the weather and lunch was greatly appreciated, approx 40 attended lunch. Many thanks to all concerned.

7.4.French conversation lessons- “formidable”- approx 8 attended each level

7.5.Safari Supper 17 Jan 2009 Nothing to report

7.6.AGM 6 Feb: Nothing to report

7.7.Twinning stall Nether Stowey May Fair Street Market Sat. 2 May Bank Holiday 2009: To be pondered!

8.Theillay Visit Sat 23 - Tue 26 May 2009

8.1.Travel Programme 22-26 May 2009 – Discussion followed re travel to France in cars/ mini buses

Discussion redistribution of invitations from Theillay- proposal of I per household, village to be divided for distribution

Possibly enclose I per Quantock Messenger

8.2.Budget and Grant –

8.2.1.Continue to follow up Grant application

9.Media/Publicity

9.1.Diary entries a resume of the Quantock walk to be e-mailed for inclusion

9.2.Calendar suggested selling price of £2.99. Promotion to be initially to members via e-mail ( possibly include front cover and one month for illustration)

Also place around shops in village for sale

To be offered at quiz nights

Display box for calenders to be pursued

Suggested 50%/50% profit share with other organisations.( Gardening club, Book Club, Flower club
